Gunks Road Trip

Where is the Road Trip located?

The camping and events will be held at the Art Farm. Most of the nearby climbing is located on the Mohonk Preserve. You’ll need a day pass or a season pass to access the preserve, the AAC is selling discounted passes as part of the Road Trip.

Do I have to be an experienced rock climber to attend?

Not at all! We welcome all climbing experience levels! However, you are responsible for making arrangements to get yourself on the rock. If you do not yet have the experience to lead traditional climbing routes, boulder safely, or set up top rope anchors, we have partnered with EMS guides who will be setting top ropes and providing instruction for newer climbers. Signing up for this group is in addition to the road trip registration. The Road Trip is a great opportunity to climb at the Gunks in a safe and fun way and meet stoked new partners. We hope you’ll join us even if you’re just getting in to climbing outside!

Do I need to register?

Yes, registration is required to attend and the number of participants is limited to 85.

Refunds and cancellations

We allow full refunds up to 2 weeks in advance of the event. After that we cannot offer refunds unless we develop a waiting list and are able to sell your ticket to someone else. If you need to request a refund, please send us an email at

What if it rains?

This event is rain or shine! We hope you still come out, even if weather is looking iffy. There are lots of fun things to do in the area if climbing is not an option.

Who is Sarge? I’ve heard he’s an Art Farm legend

Sarge (aka Barge) runs the Art Farm, or maybe his owner does. He’s a friendly black lab who you’ll see strolling around the property. He love belly rubs and food scraps.
